  1. How do you achieve your low prices?

Unlike many of our competitors, we do not have a shop with the rent, bills or indeed any of the enormous costs surrounding other tailors. Instead, we are an E-Commerce company with a small office in the heart of the Cotswold Countryside. Fittings can take place here on request. Since we only sell bespoke suits we also carry no stock. Furthermore, we do not advertise. We rely on our popularity on the internet, word of mouth and recommendations from existing customers. Your suit is tailored in a traditional way complemented with a modern, efficient administrative process. These factors make us an extremely cost-efficient company, and we pass these savings onto the customer.

  2. Can I provide my own materials?

Yes. We do not proclaim to have a range of materials that would suit everyones own tastes, therefore, if you have a specific requirement, Aptus Suits can deal with your request. If you require a larger range of materials, a sample PDF can be sent by email.

Firstly, provide us with your measurements so we can advise you on the length of material required, as a general guide to an average height and build, we estimate that we will need:

    2 piece: 3.5m
    3 piece: 4.5m
    2 piece extra trousers: 5m

An order using your own material starts at £285, which covers both the stitching and the processing required in getting the material to our tailors. Before an order of this nature is made, we will require further details from you so as your suit can be made in accordance with our bespoke standards.

  3. Can I see a sample of your material?

Yes. If you see a fabric on our stock list, please contact us and you can request up to 3 samples free of charge. Although we try to keep a stock of swatch samples in all of our materials, occasionally we do run out therefore, delivery of the sample may take longer than anticipated. If you wish to request a fabric that is not on our stock list, please do not hesitate to contact us and we will endeavour to meet your needs.

  11. How is my suit made?

As soon as we know your measurements, and you've chosen the cloth, lining and style of your suit, we send the details of your order to our master tailor. Your suit measurements are then assigned to your master cutter. Our master cutter and master tailor have 40 years of tailoring experience. Every suit is individually hand-cut to your exact measurements and your style preferences.

Upon completion, each suit is carefully checked by our master tailor, to maintain our high standards. All button holes are hand-sewn with the finest silk thread a keynote of quality workmanship. Each suit is cut on individual paper patterns, based on all of your exact measurements.

Your measurements are then saved by way of your own personal account and if you haven't changed sizes, a new custom suit is only a call or email away. All of our suits have your own name or initials sewn into the inner jacket pocket. Our Ditchley range suits all have Full French facing lining as standard. All seams are reinforced for maximum durability. Once quality controlled, the suit is then shipped.

Please let us know how we are doing. At Aptus Suits we take pride in every aspect of our clients service thus feedback from you allows us to improve and maintain our high level of quality and customer service.

  12. What fabric are your shirts made from?

All of our tailored shirts are made from the finest 100% Egyptian cotton. We believe that this fabric is far superior to any other shirt fabric and is the perfect complement to a tailored suit. A variety of cuff styles are offered and we also tailor shirts for specific professionals i.e. tailored barrister/advocate shirts.

  13. What if my suit does not fit correctly?

Aptus understands that occasionally there will be minor glitches in regard to providing your own measurements.  Our tailor in the heart of the Cotswolds can solve most problems that might occur, for example if you wanted to shorten or lengthen sleeves or change the size of the waist band on the trousers. We can re-tailor the suit for a small additional charge. However alterations are rarely needed as Aptus Suits has a strict quality control procedure before every suit is tailored. Our master Tailor assesses the measurements individually and uses his 40 years of experience to determine whether each measurement is correct.

  14. Is there an extra cost for larger sizes?

No. Aptus suits are designed to fit individual body-shapes rather than regular sizes. No matter what body shape you are, our attention to detail, quality and care is maintained in every suit regardless of size. Aptus Suits believes that everyone should be able to benefit and enjoy the feel of a hand-tailored suit.

  15. Is it possible to purchase just a pair of trousers, a waistcoat or a jacket?

Yes. Each one of our garments can be bought individually. If a waistcoat is required at a later date to match the fabric of your suit, Aptus will be happy to meet this requirement.

  16. What is the cut of your suits?

Aptus Suits are made to a classic 3 button English cut or our very fashionable 2 button Italian design. The finishing touches such as the number of vents, buttons and of course, fabrics, are of course left to the demands of our customers. Likewise if you require a particular cut why not send us a picture and we will endeavour to match it.

  17. What shall I do now I have received my suit?

We transport each suit in a way which keeps it as a crease free as possible; however minor creases do occur during transit. Each suit is sent in a suit box made especially to maintain the shape of the garment even in the post. We also provide a suit garment cover free of charge as a goodwill gesture towards our clients.

If the unpacked suit still has some creases, we recommend hanging it in a steamy room (for example your bathroom) and this will diminish the creases in the suit. We recommend that when you have finished wearing your suit, it should be left to hang. Ideally, a suit should only be worn 1 to 3 times a week. Therefore your wardrobe should consist of at least 3 suits for Spring/Summer and 3 for Autumn/Winter. Lightweight suits should be between 7 to 9 ounces in weight and single breasted. Plain weaves, subtle self stripes and muted checks work well during the warmer months. Heavier suits can be 12 ounces or more and can be double breasted, two piece or three piece, in bolder stripes, herringbones or a plain design. You may wish to wear the same weight of fabric all year round. If this is the case, 10-12 ounces is ideal when worn as single breasted two piece or double breasted suit.

  20.  I don't live in the UK can I still buy an Aptus Suit?
  21. Aptus suits has a growing client base of individuals around Europe. We have particularly strong links with businesses in both Sweden and Finland for whom we have tailored a large number of bespoke garments. If you have 3 or more individuals interested in our tailored suits, we can arrange to fly one of our fitters out to meet you. We have to charge marginally more than for our UK fittings to cover the cost of the flight; however this fee is negotiable with big orders.
Alternatively if you fly to the UK from time to time, why not arrange for one of our fitters to meet you at your hotel, we can tailor your garments and have them posted to your desired location
